Jim Beam Double Oak.
This bottle intrigued me since it is twice barreled and much more affordable than it's only counterpart that I'm aware of - Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. Jim Beam Double Oak. The bottles we tasted included Old Bardstown Bottled in Bond, Jim Beam Bottled in Bond, Rebel Yell Bottled in Bond, Cutty Sark, Old Overholt, Heaven Hill 6 Year Green label, and Crown Royal (the guy who brought it didn't realize it was more than $20).

It's not the end all be all, but for $22, this should be another king of the bottom shelf.Edit: just for clarity, this gets a 90 because I take price into account. The Woodford is richer, oilier, smokier, heavier in caramel and butterscotch/vanilla. I have been tempted to get some of these because the prices aren’t too bad but I have never satisfied my curiosity.
level 1. Well I certainly think they figured it out even though they don't disclose the full age.
It's $26.95 in my neck of the woods.I'm going to try this.

I've enjoyed what the second oak cask brought to Woodford's bourbon, so I came in with some small hope that this might have a similar flavor profile for mixing, at a much lower price. An expression of standard JB with extra time spent in a second new charred oak barrel. The spice and oak is delicious and it has a wonderful nose and a long finish.
Tasted neat with about 20 minutes of airing. I know Jim Beam's black label has moved down from 8-years aged ("double"), 6-years ("triple" the 2-year legal requirement), and now 4-6 years ("extra"). LOLWTFGLHF. I think it's about time for another review!
(Side note: Recently, I celebrated my 50th birthday with a bottle of Woodford Reserve Double Oaked and went through half of it that night (No, I was not drunk...damn high tolerance!

The Woodford DO is a target for unrelenting derision on this sub (don't tell anyone, but I like it). I cant believe its a $20 whiskey and i dont know how they barrel it twice at that price.New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be castWe talk about bourbon, rye, or any American whiskey here (yes, even Jack). Finish: Short, thin. Mashbill - 77/13/10 c/r/b. For me, that’s a turnoff because it makes it more one dimensional. What I’m looking for is some thoughts on some of the bourbon made by Jim Beam.
It’s REALLY oak forward. Then, after the traditional 4-year aging process, the bourbon is transferred to a second freshly charred American White Oak barrel and aged to taste. Nose - Oak, ethanol, caramelized sugar, shortbread, and a hint of leather. I was gunna grab a few bottles, but not if it's garbage. Hope that helps.I like the detailed review, but I can't help but ask ... if JBDO gets a 90, what would you rate an average bottle of Booker's?
I really like oaky bourbon, which is I why I tried the Double Oak. Jim Beam Double Oak starts life as Jim Beam white. Gonna get another bottle as a backup.Bought a bottle last night and i really like this. Jim Beam Double Oak is on sale for a ridiculously reduced price in my local supermarket, is it any good? After selecting and dumping a bunch of 4-year-old barrels they take that bourbon and put it back into brand new charred oak barrels for a second round of aging. Nose: A bit brash, although whether from youth or heavy tannins I can't tell. Die leeren Fässer enthalten ca. Außergewöhnliche Geschmackstiefe. Comes across as a nice toasted oak, pepper, cinnamon, clove, vanilla, caramel.
