Our New York Campground Location - A Convenient Dutchess County Locale Sylvan Lake Beach Park is located in Hopewell Junction, Dutchess County - near Poughkeepsie in the Hudson Valley region, just an hour north of New York City. The rest rooms were fine, located in the center of the campground loop. The lake was pretty crowded but we were close to the 4th of July when we stayed there. The RV sites include 30 and 50 amp power, water and sewer, picnic table, and fire pit. Jarvis Bay is a family friendly campground with some playgrounds for the kids and an interconnected trail system perfect for biking or hiking. The Tatanka theater provides activities and one night we stayed there was live music to enjoy.

Located just off the highway, the pines of Black Hills Forest isolate this mid-sized group of sites from the road noise. The lodge is near by and they have a nice bar and dining room. It's worth the privacy. We stayed at Sylvan Lake Campground Sept 2016 and had an absolute blast. Extremely friendly and helpful. We had 2 adults and three children, ages 3, 8, and 10. All sites have picnic tables and fire pits. We had wonderful photography opportunites and to hear the buffalo and see them up close was an amazing experience. The campground has flush toilets and showers in a clean well kept building.
