A few things we really like about living here:-Home prices are relatively affordable compared to other shore towns and surrounding areas like Red Bank, Middletown, Holmdel, etc. As a student, I do not have much experience with the real estate market or potential job opportunities. It has the Henry Hudson trail to walk or ride bikes on. As northern most Monmouth County town, we benefit from the superior Monmouth Country services, quick access to the shore area, and quick access to all major highways.Matawan is a very safe, clean city overall. The town need to clean up abandoned businesses. We are 30 minutes from most of the beaches in NJ and less than an hour from our amusement park. Matawan is in Monmouth County and is one of the best places to live in New Jersey.

There's a general expectation the area will explode in the next few years. They do nothing. The place is not posh at all. Moving from Colorado to New Jersey in two months and have been looking for good places to live.

Rts 36, 35, 34 and the parkway are a few minutes away.-Great community feel and super walkable downtown. My dad also grew up in Matawan and the amount of support and the sense of community is incredible! Bell Works is 15 mins, the shore is 20 mins, and all the amenities of Monmouth County are nearby. The public schools in Matawan are highly rated.My husband+I are young professionals who moved from Manhattan and bought a house in downtown Matawan 5+ years ago.

I love my town and I would love to stay as long as I can. Living in Matawan offers residents a dense suburban feel and most residents own their homes. Also there is no specific downtown. On a moderate house (3 br/2.5 baths) I pay $12,000 and Still had to pay $600 to be my daughter bussed to school because we live 2.48 miles away from the building. People are very friendly and there is a magnificent park called Cheesquake.
We're both NYC commuters and love being walking distance from the train and a short drive to the ferry. There are plenty of community activities throughout the year for the whole town to get involved in.

Growing up in Matawan was a great experience and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else.Matawan is a great close nip community, small, safe and friendly. There are a lot of churches and everything else you need close by. Fees that Niche receives for ads do not affect the terms you may be offered by the lender you choose. And, nothing can beat a quiet neighborhood, especially those of us that like some quiet time every once in a while.

I think the younger people of the town could benefit from a place to go that won't get them yelled at by law enforcement.I have lived in Matawan my entire life and I cannot imagine living anywhere else. Really active historical society and tons of local historic attractions.Matawan is a small but friendly town. So there isn't much I would really change about the town that I live in.

Also, the park you can hike, fish, swim, barbecue, and also has a playground for younger kids.I have been living in matawan for the past four weeks.

You have to drive pretty much everywhere. There is a Village you can live in. Let’s start with the basics: Matawan borough, NJ is located in Monmouth County and it has a population of 9,021.

But most of what you need is within five-ten minutes distance.Not good. Job opportunity are close to none.Small community but friendly and family oriented.
