There is always some question about whether or not you should go wandering around on Reservation property. Bonito Lake is a spectacular reservoir within the Sierra Blanca mountains northwest of Ruidoso. They allow you to rent/buy fishing gear on site and also rent out paddle boats by the hour.
As the city is located on the alpine ranges of Mountain Sierra Blanca, summers are cold, and winters are colder. The lake grounds are also open for camping with 22 tent campsites and 6 RV sites.
