I think the Romanovs reference was made as a selling point. A comedy series adapted from the award-winning play about a young woman trying to cope with life in London whilst coming to terms with a recent tragedy.
I want to like the show because of its creator and the quality cast it uses but don’t due to poor writing. For every other episodes thereafter, you would be lucky if there is even a genuine tie to that doomed royal family, in some cases, all you get, is a casual mention of “But I’m a Romanov!” I’m sorry, but they could easily have said “But I’m from Mars!” Oh, and the endings – they are so unsatisfying, yet I don’t doubt that the showrunners have congratulated these as cute or witty.
