The X-laser mobile beat is only a couple hundred more than the Laser Cube - and is a much more robust laser projector - but not as portable. Probably not an issue but might cause problems in a hot environment?

But although I haven't tried it, it does have a "Playlist" function which sounds like a bare bones alternative to timeline. The LaserCube is a powerful, portable, and easy-to-use laser system designed with DJs, Musicians and Live Performers in mind.

There is no hardware or other restriction preventing US version LaserCubes from running the international version of LaserOS software which contains the burning and targeting modes.Q. The improvements are subtle but definitely desirable.
LaserOS has a continuous power slider so it's possible to attenuate the brightness but I'm assuming all projectors would have that facility?
