“Jim Cohen is a great steel guitar player and a wonderful musician.” In the spring, she was dreaming of making another album.





She and her husband of 10 years, Jeff Chadrow, decorated it with eclectic antiques, memorabilia and artwork.



Sadly in January 2009, Linda Cohen, pioneer Philadelphia guitarist, composer and teacher died of lung cancer at her home in Center City. He has also mastered/recorded CDs by Argentinian classical guitarist Nestor Ausqui, harpsichordist Kathleen McIntosh, and various rock groups. She supported herself by performing, composing and teaching guitar for more than 35 years out of the Classical Guitar Store on Sansom Street.

In the late 1960s, at the Second Fret on Sansom Street, Ms. Cohen opened for Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Joni Mitchell, John Fahey and Dave Van Ronk, whose blues-inspired guitar playing influenced her style.

Ms. Cohen began playing drums in elementary school in East Oak Lane before performing in the Olney High School band.

Sadly, she passed away recently, but was well-known in Philadelphia both as a musician and a guitar …











She played quite softly, with very detailed articulation, so it was difficult to set up stereo miking and not have some issues with phase differences weakening the sound.

Their only recorded legacy is the musical backing and production credits on three LPs by Philadelphia acoustic guitarist (and guitar teacher) Linda Cohen (no relation to Charles), Leda (1971), Lake of Light (1972) and Angel Alley (1973).

I started using this technique on some nylon-string guitar albums with the late classical guitarist Linda Cohen.

Her life was sadly cut short by cancer in 2009.This is absolutely stunning, and a record I’ve been returning to very frequently on these cold evenings when I want a cozy, hot chocolate mood.
