)We stayed in this historic lodge for one leg of our trip. The Lodge has re-opened for limited occupancy lodging and limited patio seating at Rebecca’s. The common areas illustrate worn rugs, carpets and woodwork; peeling paint, limited lighting and dust galore. Our room on the second floor (the lodge has three floors) had not yet made it to the top of the remodeling list, and so was a lot rougher around the edges. We were so very disappointed!
Both beds were worn out, and were classic taco beds with sink holes.
The grounds are well kept and lovely.

All of our rooms were clean and well-kept, and all of the rooms were equipped with an air conditioner (ours worked great) and heater. (I understand that the owners are remodeling rooms a few at a time.) And I would have liked to have eaten in the restaurant area with the option for the bar menu and some intimacy instead of the smaller but more crowded bar area. Not so sure I'd want to eat there... As someone with years of experience in hotel renovation & rebranding, I could offer so much advice to the owners of The Lodge to make this property top notch with a 5 star experience. The dining room is large and split into three large sections.
In fact, the only suggestion of any dirtiness was from an iron burn in the carpet on an obvious spot.

And the off-the-menu breakfast does not start until 8am. As a note though - there is as much dust lurking on the sideboard in the dining room as we found on the antique furniture in the hallway.

If I were going to leave a suggestion it would be to add a blind to the small window so that there would not be so much light in the room. The tiny bath was an afterthought and so small that we banged our elbows on various fixtures during our stay. The room was good sized and included two queen-sized beds (that were too soft) and two sitting chairs (the bottoms of which need to be replaced), but no desk or table. We were so very disappointed! Not so! We arrived late and did not want a big mealSimply stay away.........and maybe try it when the new owners restore the entire property. Now onto the little details: The website indicates a complimentary continental breakfast M-F from 6am - 10am. Although every staff member was great, we were fortunate to have Renee wait on us for most of our meals.
